1 Victor Abramovsky Laboratory “GRID technology in modern physics”
Experience of using and developing of GRID at Novgorod State University Victor Abramovsky Laboratory “GRID technology in modern physics”

2 Novgorod State University
The Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University comprises 6 institutes, 2 university faculties and 5 colleges. There are lecturers today, 101 doctors of science and 471 candidates among them. There are more than students and 450 post graduate students. According to the rating evaluation system used in European University Association NovSU currently takes the 13th place among 46 classical Russian Universities. The main scientific activities of NovSU are: information technologies, high energy physics, electronics, human sciences, history.

3 Laboratory “GRID technology in modern physics”
4 scientists, 3 post graduate students, 3 students, average age is about 25 years Members of Laboratory lectures on GRID technology and OS Linux. During the last four years these lectures were attended by more than 300 students from different specialties. The aim of this work is to develop GRID community in Novgorod Region. Apparatus complex of laboratory includes 9 CPU,6 Gb RAM, 2.5 Tb storage capacity. Laboratory takes part in the RDIG project as regional center.

4 GRID  NovSU Direct use of GRID gives access to computational capabilities which are certainly exceeding the scope of regional university. GRID computational capabilities have been effectively used in our laboratory in HEP researches. GRID is the most effective system of distributed computing and it perfectly fits to training of students and postgraduate students in e-Sciences. Applicable courses have been developed and are lecturing by members of the laboratory.

5 NovSU  GRID Few-to-few protocol
The laboratory takes part in number of collaborations with SINP MSU, PNPI and CERN on analysis of large GRID infrastructures functioning by means of computer modeling. On analysis of existing GRID infrastructures there was proposed and realized the method of data transfer optimization in few-to-few topology. This method: a) ensures raise of effectiveness of data transfer as compared with existing protocols; b) has reliability and predictable behavior in networks with non-trivial topology and large data flows.

6 Prospects Training of high quality personnel to working in GRID systems. Implementation of few-to-few protocol in GRID software. Implementation of few-to-few protocol in challenges presented by federal management, systems of data collection and processing and so on.
