3 Leadership Positions Project Manager: The overall leader of the team who is the final authority on the proposal and the presentation – the “buck stops here.” The PM makes sure that deliverables are submitted on time and in the correct manner. The PM is the cheerleader of the team who continues to keep everyone motivated and working toward the goal. The PM is also the primary point of contact between the high school team and the UAH team. The PM will do the most public speaking on the team. Chief Engineer: The technical leader of the team who is the final authority on the design itself – the “chief geek.” This person knows every detail of the design. The CE makes sure that the design is self-consistent, and all the physics is done properly. The CE will also do quite a bit of public speaking. Communications Director: The leader of the communications team. This person talks with the UAH team and provides them with all required deliverables. They are in charge of the payload concept proposal as well as the development of the PSR and PCR presentations. Marketing Coordinator: The leader of the marketing team. They coordinate the marketing strategy for the proposed payload design as well as coordinate the open house exhibit (including the poster).

4 Engineering Responsibilities
Select a science objective for your payload Can be from list provided or you can develop your own Develop a logical flow (called a Science Traceability Matrix) that shows the link between the science objective and the instruments needed to provide the data to meet the objective Understand the engineering requirements that are imposed on your payload project, environments, functions, and science Develop alternative solutions to meet the engineering design requirements Choose the “best” solution Analyze your solution to determine that it meets the requirements Provide a prototype

5 Marketing Responsibilities
Team Identity Name Logo Slogan Exhibit UAH IPT Open House Poster Handouts Exhibit layout/design Attire Website Create a website about your payload design

6 Communications Responsibilities
