The horizontal axes of the ellipsoids include the mean ± 2 SDs of the total cholesterol level; the vertical axes of the ellipsoids include the mean ± 2 SDs of the HDL-C value. Note the considerable overlap of the 2 ellipsoids for those with and without prevalent CHD.
