1 District Performance Overview
Jeffco All Leadership September 6, 2017

2 Jeffco exceeded state percent met/exceeded expectations in English Language Arts

3 And in Math (except *8th grade anomaly)
*Approximately one-third of Jeffco eighth grade students are included in CMAS Algebra I and Geometry assessment results instead of the standard grade 8 math assessment, so state comparisons are not equivalent for the single assessment (grade 8 CMAS Math) in which Jeffco did not exceed state performance. **Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 results are reflective of all students who took these assessments  regardless of grade level (e.g. Geometry results include students in grades 8 and 9).

4 CMAS Science Achievement Comparison
Jeffco/Colorado CMAS Science Achievement Comparison Percent Met or Exceeded And in Science

5 PSAT * EBRW: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. PSAT scale ranges from 320 to 1520.

This chart shows the 1-year difference (up or down) for the percent of students meeting or exceeding CMAS expectations. As you can see, most grade levels showed gains compared to the prior year’s performance. Jeffco has much to celebrate in1-year CMAS trends of percent met/exceeded by grade level Gr. 5 Gr. 7, 8, 10 Gr. 7 Reading/ Writing Math Science -5%

8 Turning to CMAS growth, Jeffco’s Median Growth Percentiles by grade level are also mostly above the state’s median. (middle school dip)

9 EBRW: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing
For the first year of Colorado SAT as the state’s 11 grade college entrance test, about 7 in 10 of our 11th graders are “college ready” in Reading/Writing and about half in Math, according to College Board. EBRW: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing According to College Board, SAT college and career readiness indicates a 75% likelihood of achieving at least a C in related first-semester, credit-bearing college courses.

10 2017 Achievement Gap Examples
While we have much to celebrate, there is still work to do. Jeffco’s achievement gaps persist.

11 Jeffco CMAS ELA Grades 3-9 Subgroup - Gender 2016-17
An example: The gender gap in literacy exceeds 20 points at some grade levels.

12 Jeffco CMAS Math Grades 3-6 Subgroup – Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL) 2016-17
Students in poverty in math: more than 30 point differences.

13 7th Grade 8th Grade And the accelerated math vs. on grade level math gap: 55 point gaps for 8th grade Algebra vs on grade level math.

14 9th grade accelerated math gaps: 50 point gaps between Algebra I and Geometry.

15 Our Mission and 2020 Vision To provide a quality education
that prepares all children for a successful future. In order for students to pursue their life goals, by 2020 all Jeffco graduates will be able to apply the Jeffco 2020 competencies.
