Skillet The band was formed in 1996 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Their first and self-titled album was released later in 1996 The origin of the name was more of a joke than anything. The first three members were from different bands and styles of music. The lead singer still hates the name to this day.

John Cooper Lead vocals, bass guitar (1996-Present)
John was born on April 7th, 1975. He was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He is married to Korey, the keyboardist in the band. . He was born and raised in a very religious household. When he was 18, he went to a different type of church. It was a lot of spirit-filled and fun. It was the first time he really worshipped God. He wanted to show others that there was more to a relationship with God than just going to church on Sundays.

Korey Cooper Keyboards, synthesizer, rhythm guitar, backing vocals (1999-present)
Korey was born on July 21st, She was born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She is married to John, the leader of Skillet. Her parents were both very passionate Christians and she learned to be one through watching them. He and John have two children: Alexandria and Xavier.

Seth Morrison lead guitar (2011-Present)
Seth was born on February 19th, 1988. He was born and raised in Wheelersburg, Ohio. Started playing the guitar when he was 11 years old. . His family was very musical. Seth and his family traveled the road a lot performing in their southern gospel band.

Jen ledger Drums, percussion, lead vocals (2008-present)
Jen was born on December 8th, 1989. She was born and raised in Coventry, England. Joined Skillet when she was 18 years old. . In 2006, Jen was a finalist in the UK young drummer competition. At the age of 16, she came to the US to study drums at the Living Lights School of Worship in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

“Rebirthing” “Rebirthing” is the first single on the seventh album, Comatose. This also the first song I heard by them. Also, this is my favorite song. It was recorded between February-April 2006 at the Chicago Recording Company. It was released October 3, 2006. The writer, John Cooper, said the song is about second chances. He felt like there were a lot of people who didn’t feel like they deserved a second chance in life. It was No. 1 on ChristianRock.Net’s Weekly Top 30 for sixteen weeks, No. 3 on their Annual Top 100. It was also the most requested song in “Rebirthing” also charted No. 9 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart

“Awake and alive” “Awake and Alive” is the third single on the album, Awake. It was recorded in 2009 at Bay7 Studios, Los Angeles, California. It was released on February 15, 2010. The main message behind this song is to live what you believe. When it was released as a single, it reached No. 100 on the Billboard’s Hot 100. On the Billboard Top Heatseekers it was No.16. On Christian Rock Charts it was No. 12. “Awake and Alive” also charted No. 1 on ChristianRock.net.

“Hero” “Hero” is the first single on the album, Hero.
It was recorded in 2009 at Bay7 Studios, Los Angeles, California. It was released on May 19, 2009. This song is about mankind’s need for a hero. The hero in mind is God. It reached the No. 1 position on the ChristianRock.Net Top 30. It also made No. 1 for thirteen straight weeks on Christian Rock Radio. It even made it to No. 77 on Japan Hot 100. I find the last fact very interesting.

“It’s not me It’s you “It’s Not Me It’s You” is the sixth single on the album, Awake. It was recorded in 2009 at Bay7 Studios, Los Angeles, California. It was released June 7, 2011. This song is about getting rid of negative influences in your life. It reached No. 11 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Also, reached No. 10 on the US Active Rock charts.

“lucy” “Lucy” is the fifth single on the album, Awake.
It was recorded in 2009 at the Bay7 Studio, Los Angeles, California. It was released January 27, Studio, Los Angeles, California. This song was written about a young couple having regrets after an abortion. It charted No. 21 Christian Rock Radio. It also took No. 49 on the US Billboard Christian Song chart.

Range is back to being narrow. 1:29 Chorus re-enters. 1:50 Tempo lightly slows Singer’s voice goes quieter and lower 1:57 Verse 3 beings. Tempo returns to normal and singer’s voice returns to being raspy 2:26 Chorus starts 2:41 Verse 4 3:03 All music stop on “time”
