1 MAIN POINTS OF WORLD WAR I
Known at first as 'People's War', this idea developed in the 19th Century as part of a growing sense of national identity; it was called simply the World War or the Great War, the War to End All Wars, and thereafter the First World War or World War I. In America it was initially called the European War World War I marked a turning point in European history; and it probably had more far-reaching consequences in the future than any other proceeding war, just about every historical event that happened in the remainder of the century was in one way or another a result of it.

2 MAIN POINTS OF WORLD WAR I
By the middle of World War One it was known as 'Total War'. First mass global war of the industrialised age, the vast majority of people fought in World War One, or supported it with the 'Home Front' because they believed that victory for their own country was worth the cost. European civilization had undergone a number of crises. After WWI, Europeans looked at themselves and civilization differently What made World War One so different was the long-term impact of the Industrial Revolution, with its accompanying political and social changes. The First World War opened the eyes of the world to the dark side of modernity and progress The continent was unable to return to its successful economic status after the war.

3 MAIN POINTS OF WORLD WAR I
Global effect of the war which affected the world map a full list of the countries involved in World War One reveals a potentially surprising picture of global activity. The war impacted on Europe, the United States became involved and Japan and spread into the South Atlantic and Pacific. However, the main theatre of the war was Europe. There were some technological advances with the war; railways, new weapons, tanks, communications The numbers killed were huge, destruction on and off the battlefields was enormous and the cost was horrendous.
