3 What is SRS? Description
A ground-based static charging system for trams & electric buses equipped with on-board energy storage On-board: current collectors under the vehicle Trackside: cabinet installed at passenger stops Ground: street-level conductor rail (or pads) at passenger stations

The power rail continuously emits a coded signal and allows the vehicle to position itself The vehicle detects the ascending signal from the rail and stops over it

Based on APS principle: same components for both location control and energization (with bi-directional communication) Power rails contain conductive segments and antennae Collector shoe contains contact power strips and antennae Cabinet contains power contactors and emitter/receiver of the signals SRS is an all-in-one system: no need for extra signalling or vehicle detection devices Differentiator: control and energisation within the same equipment

The power required depends on the type of application: An on-board supercapacitor to charge in less than 20 seconds at passenger stations or An on-board battery to charge during several minutes at each terminus of a bus line SRS for tram: designed for 1500 A / 750 V during 20 seconds
