3 A. Calories Calories- measure of energy in food that your body burns
Some foods have more Fat, carbs, and protein Fat- 9 calories/gram to carbs 4 calories/gram How much you burn depends Growth, body size, gender, age, metabolic age Must consume same calories that you burn to maintain weight

Weight Problems Overweight- weighing more than 10% over standard for weight and height Obesity- excess of body fat Obesity adds risk Overweight not necessary unhealthy Obesity risk- hypertension, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, cancer Causes- sedentary lifestyle, poor food habits, heredity Underweight Risks- 10% below standard Risks- undernutrition, iron deficiency, can’t fight off infection
