2 Traditions France: In France, Christmas is a time for family and for generosity, gifts and candy for children and gifts for the poor. French Christmas Traditions: French children put their shoes in front of the fireplace and they hope that Santa Claus will give them gifts. Candy, fruit, nuts, and small toys will also be hung on the tree overnight.

4 England The day before Christmas is very busy for families in England. They buy presents, bake cookies and hang stockings over the fireplace. Then everyone sit around the tree as someone tells the favorite story, "A Christmas Carol.“ On Christmas Day, everyone sits down and finds a colorful Christmas cracker on their dinner plate. A Christmas cracker is a paper. Then they wear a paper hat at dinner, small trinkets and they tell a riddle to everyone at the table.

5 Finland Christmas traditions in Finland are centered on the home and family. Finland is the home of Santa and every Finnish child knows that Santa lives on the Mountain of Korvatunturi in the town of Savukoski.

7 Switzerland The Christmas tree is usually decorated there, on Christmas Eve evening. The tree is set up by adult members and they decorate it with small candles or electric lights.
