3 1. Part 1: Reading As part of Essential Communication Skills you will need to: Read different types of documents Identify the main points Summarise the documents

4 Part 1: Reading Task Look at the documents that have been given to you. How could you identify or choose the main points? Read the documents Highlight/underline the main points & make notes Write up a summary/list of the main points

5 Part 1: Discussion It is important to plan for our discussions.

7 Part 1: Writing As part of Essential Communication Skills you will need to: Write two different documents Write for different purposes Spell and punctuate your work correctly.

8 Writing for Purpose You might come across writing for many different reasons: Persuasive Descriptive Informative Instructive

9 Writing for purpose The language used: Purpose Language Descriptive
Vivid and detailed, making use of the 5 senses Informative Includes real information that is reliable. Persuasive One sided argument that makes your ideas the only sensible choice Instructional Short and to the point, making the text easy to follow

11 Writing Task Go to your sample assessment booklets and complete the writing task in part 1. Don’t forget to plan, as you did for your discussion & draft your work before creating a final copy.
