4. Acrostic Poem doesn’t have to rhyme
spell out topic word or phrase (animal’s name) vertically or horizontally
Use each letter as the basis for a line or phrase about your topic
letter can begin line or be within line
MUST include: animal’s name, status (endangered or threatened), and other facts from your research.

5. Cinquain 5 lines don’t have to rhyme
MUST include: animal’s name, status (endangered/threatened), threats, other facts from research.
Line 1: two (2) syllables
Line 2: four (4) syllables
Line 3: six (6) syllables
Line 4: eight (8) syllables
Line 5: two (2) syllables

6. Couplet 2 lines (couplet) make up one stanza.
Both lines in a stanza:
often rhyme
have a similar number of syllables
have a similar rhythm
Several couplets make up a poem.
Different stanzas do not have to rhyme.
MUST

have at LEAST 4 stanzas (8 lines)
