11 November 2015 Mandate Established by section 3 of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Act, 1998 Main objects are to: - administer procedure to discourage traffic contraventions & support adjudication of infringements - enforce penalties imposed against persons contravening road traffic laws - to encourage the payment of penalties imposed for infringements - undertake community education and awareness programmes

4 Mandate Objectives of the Act are to:
encourage compliance to road traffic laws encourage payment of penalties establish procedure for effective and expeditious adjudication of road traffic infringements alleviate the burden on courts

5 Mandate penalise infringers through the allocation of demerit points
reward good behaviour through the reduction of demerit points establish an Agency to support law enforcement and judicial authorities strengthen co-operation between prosecuting and law enforcement authorities
