2 Free-Throw Provisions
Within semi-circle & behind FT line Lane spaces properly occupied Once free thrower has the ball: Throw in 10 seconds to enter or touch ring Cannot fake try, nor may a player in lane spaces fake No opponent shall disconcert the free thrower No player may enter/leave marked lane space until ball released Free thrower may not break plane of FT line until ball touches ring or backboard or FT ends Players not in marked lane space may not break plane of FT line until ball touches ring or backboard or FT ends Players in marked lane spaces must stay in vertical planes of space until ball released EDIT**Players in marked lane spaces may NOT enter semi circle until ball touches the ring or FT ends

3 The Penalties 1. IF first or only violation is by FT team, ball dead, no point can score The following OOB provisions if no more FTs to be administered Violation during FT for PF, ball awarded to opponent at spot nearest violation Violation during FT for tech, ball awarded at division line opposite table Violation during FT for flag/int PF, ball awarded to opponent at spot nearest foul 2. IF violation is by the FT team OPPONENT: Try successful, goal counts and violation disregarded Try not successful, ball is dead, and a substitute FT attempted by same free thrower

4 The Penalties 3. IF simultaneous violation by each team, ball dead, no point scored. Remaining FTs administered or play is resumed by alternating possession arrow at spot nearest the violation 4. IF violation 1st by FT opponent, then by FT team Both offenders in marked lane space, 2nd violation ignored, as in (2) 2nd violation by FT team behind FT line and/or 3pt line, both violations penalized, as in (3) Violation by free thrower follows disconcertion by opponent, add another FT Fake by opponent causes FT team to violate, only fake is penalized

5 Throw-In Provisions Thrower cannot leave spot until ball is released
Ball passed by thrower so it touches a player on the court before going OOB untouched Thrown ball shall not be touched by teammate while on the OOB side of throw-in boundary plane, except (EL after goal or awarded goal) Once throw-in starts, ball released before 5 seconds elapse Thrower cannot carry ball onto court Ball has to touch another player on court before thrower touches Ball cannot enter basket before touching another player Ball can’t be lodged/come to rest on basket before touching another player Thrower shall not be replaced by teammate once ball is at disposal (7-5-7) No teammate should be OOB after spot throw-in begins *Ball becomes dead, ball awarded to opponent for throw-in at that spot

6 Throw-In Provisions Opponent shall not have any part of body through plane until ball released Thrower may break plane but not touch inbounds or player inbounds, opponent may touch ball in this scenario *First violation by opponent results in warning *2nd or more violations results in tech foul *If opponent reaches through plane and touches the ball while in possession of thrower, tech foul *If opponent contacts the thrower, intentional PF

7 Out of Bounds Player shall not cause ball to go OOB
Dribbler may not step OOB even though he/she not touching the ball No player shall be OOB when touch of the ball after it’s released on throw- in pass A player shall not leave the court for unauthorized reason *Ball is dead, awarded to opponents for throw-in at spot nearest violation
