4 Dress Code Rules Wear safety glasses or goggles and/or gloves when instructed Tie back long hair. NO open toed shoes for lab activities. Don’t wear loose or baggy clothes. Use an apron to protect clothes

7 Answer! The student’s on the right are not wearing their goggles properly and they are not wearing gloves.

8 General Safety Rules NO HORSEPLAY! - no running or pushing;
-no squirting with droppers. Read experiment directions before you begin. Don’t experiment on your own. Never handle equipment unless you are instructed to do so.

9 *Handle everything as if it's pathogenic*

10 *Clean spills promptly from the OUTSIDE- IN.

11 No food or drinks during lab activities. No gum or candy.
No Cough Drops unless prescribed. No putting strange things in your mouth Copyright © 2010 Ryan P. Murphy

12 Dispose of materials as instructed.
Don’t pour materials down the drain unless told it is ok to do so. Report all accidents to the teacher immediately.

13 Handle scalpels or razors carefully!

14 Fire Safety How do you exit the classroom and building if there is a fire? Turn off equipment Leave quickly Close door Leave Side stairs and exit by back door. Meet on the field.

21 Lab Safety When heating a test tube or bottle, always point it away from you and other people. Never heat a liquid in a closed container because of pressure. Pick up heated containers with tongs or gloves. Never touch!

22 Don’t mix chemicals “just for fun.”
Never touch, taste or smell a chemical unless you know it is ok. (waft scent toward nose) Dispose of chemicals as instructed by your teacher.

24 Check glassware for cracks or chips prior to use
