2 Diagnostic, Interim, then Leap

3 LEAP 2025 The questions are aligned to the standards we teach. These tests measure student performance and give us an indication of whether students are “on track” for college and careers. The results give next year’s teachers an idea of which students may need additional support during the year and which students may need to be challenged.

4 Test Format Multiple Choice Multiple Select Constructed Response
Extended Response Passages or Source Documents ELA, Social Studies, & Science

For multiple select, the question stem will identify the number of correct answers that should be filled in.

8 What will the reading test include?
Research Simulation Task Students will read 3 texts on same topic. Students will then answer multiple choice questions (some with Part A and Part B, some with multiple correct answers). Students will also respond to a writing prompt requiring text evidence. Literary Analysis Task Students will read a piece of literary text (fiction), then answer multiple choice questions. (Part A,B and multiple select) Students will also respond to a writing prompt. Narrative Writing Task Students will read a piece of literary text and respond narratively. (creative writing) Reading Literary and Informational Texts Students will read and respond to text through multiple choice questions, no writing!

9 Science 2017 – field test We will not be given the results.
The state will use the results from this year as a way to see if changes need to be made before next year.

The 5th grade tests will be computer based. We have integrated technology into our classrooms each day to help prepare them for online assessments.

11 What can I do at home to help my child?
Read more nonfiction When answering questions for homework, AR, etc.. refer to text for answer and say/write page number, paragraph number Highlight/underline answers in a text, then write the question number next to the answer in the passage Practice using RAPS method when answering writing prompts
