(How to get media coverage) Evaluate, evaluate, evaluate “The purpose of Skills for Change is to give you the resources and skills to campaign on issues that matter to you. Throughout these sessions I’ll be asking you to focus on things that you would like to change and supporting you to plan how to do that. This training should be as interactive as possible so please contribute as much as you can.”

Identify problems you’d like to campaign on Find the roots of these problems Identify solutions to these problems Create a vision statement for your campaign

5 What is a campaign? “organised actions around a specific issue seeking to bring about changes in the policy and behaviours of institutions and/or specific public groups…the mobilising of forces by organisations to influence others in order to effect an identified and desired social, economic, environmental or political change.” NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations)

6 Problem trees Problem and Solution trees are great for campaigns because: Problems can seem overwhelming Problems can be broken down Easier to identify individual changes needed ‘We’re now going to use a tool called a Problem Tree to help you work through these problems to identify solutions. This will form the basis of your campaign.’
