3 What was Jesus thinking about?
He thought about others… The daughters of Jerusalem (Luke 23:28-31) The soldiers and crowd (Luke 23:34) The dying thief (Luke 23:43) His mother (John 19:26) His beloved friend, John (John 19:27)

4 What was Jesus thinking about?
He thought about the Scriptures… The cry of Matthew 27:46 (see also Mark 15:34) is a direct quote of Psalm 22:1 “to fulfill Scripture” (John 19:28) – linked to Psalm 69:21; related to Psalm 22 “It is finished!” (John 19:30) – Psalm 22:31 can rightly be translated, “It is finished!”

Jesus was forsaken by God (22:1) Jesus’ cries went unanswered (22:2) Jesus was despised and scorned(22:6-8) Jesus was tormented by ferocious men(22:12-13, 16) Jesus endured the horrific physical and emotional agony of death by crucifixion (22:14‑18)

7 How should you respond? Remember the greatness of your sin as well as the greatness of your Savior’s love. Romans 5:8 Ephesians 2:4-5
