Hebrews 11:17-19 17By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” 19Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

Genesis 22:1-5 1Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” 3Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”

Hebrews 11:17-19 Take your only , the son of promise and sacrifice him on the mountain “God, I know your voice. I have worshipped you, talked with you, obeyed you all these years. How could you ask me to do this?” Was his desire for a son greater than his desire for God?

Hebrews 11:17-19 Jesus was asked, “What is the greatest command?” Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ Put God first in everything – everything you love; everything you do; everything you think.

Hebrews 11:17-19 Abraham had cultivated a mature faith He had spent the time working the soil of his soul in order that He could clearly hear the voice of the Father Are you cultivating your faith?

Hebrews 11:17-19 Abraham obeyed immediately – God spoke and he obeyed That is my desire – is it yours? Prompt obedience is key to a life that is blessed by God

Hebrews 11:17-19 How did Abraham remain steadfast? He was convinced of God He told his servants, “We will worship and then we will come back to you.” He came face to face with Jehovah Jireh

Ephesians 3:17-21 17bAnd I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
