2 Data Integration and ETL with Oracle Warehouse Builder: Part 1 I - 2
Objectives After completing this lesson, you should be able to do the following: Identify the objectives of this course Discuss the course agenda and topics Familiarize yourself with the backgrounds of your classmates. Objectives This lesson covers the objectives and the agenda of the course. Data Integration and ETL with Oracle Warehouse Builder: Part 1 I - 2

3 Data Integration and ETL with Oracle Warehouse Builder: Part 1 I - 3
Course Objectives After completing this course, you should be able to: Describe the Warehouse Builder architecture and configuration Define and import flat files and relational metadata and define relational targets Define, deploy, and execute basic source-to-target ETL mappings and process flows Create mappings to cleanse and match-merge name and address data Debug mappings using the Mapping Debugger Analyze performance-tuning strategies for ETL mappings Backup metadata using the MDL Export/Import Manage development changes using snapshots Configure security roles and privileges Report on the ETL Jobs using the Repository Browser Describe the OBI EE integration Course Objectives This course introduces you to the OWB In-Database feature of the Oracle Database 11g Release 2. You learn about the fundamentals of designing, building, and loading a data warehouse. You use the OWB Design Center to define the sources and warehouse targets, and design ETL mappings to extract, transform, and load data into the targets. You generate, deploy, and execute OWB design objects to create and populate a target warehouse. Data Integration and ETL with Oracle Warehouse Builder: Part 1 I - 3

Appendixes Appendix A: Practices and Solutions Appendix B: Creating Experts Appendix C: Using Diagnosis and Debugging Techniques Appendixes Appendix A: This appendix contains practices and solutions for each lesson. Appendix B: This appendix describes the concepts and benefits of Experts. It explains how you can use the Expert Editor to create experts. It is added as an extra takeaway from this course. Appendix C: This appendix is added as a quick reference for diagnosing and debugging common issues and errors. Data Integration and ETL with Oracle Warehouse Builder: Part 1 I - 7

8 Data Integration and ETL with Oracle Warehouse Builder: Part 1 I - 8
Questions About You To ensure that the class can be customized to your specific needs and to encourage dialogue among all, answer the following questions: Which organization do you work for? What is your role in your organization? What is your level of data warehousing expertise? What do you hope to get out of this class? Questions About You You get much more out of this class if you know the backgrounds of your classmates and the issues that they face in the development of a data warehouse. Each student has a unique perspective, experience, and knowledge from which you all can learn. Data Integration and ETL with Oracle Warehouse Builder: Part 1 I - 8
