10 Building Alarm Systems
Alarms can be activated by the pull station, smoke sensors, water flow or error. What happens when the alarm is activated? Audible/visual signals Occupants ALWAYS evacuate building Police and/or Fire Department may respond All the Access Doors are free.

The documented building specific process for emergency evacuation of employees from their business location. Emergency Drills? Regular evacuations simulating an emergency situation requiring a building evacuation. ASSEMBLY AREAS

12 Evacuation during Emergency….
Do you know where all the exits are? Do you know your Emergency contact numbers? Do you know where the staircase are? Do you know where the designated evacuation area is? Do you know your Floor Warden ? Do you know your Team ?

13 Evacuation during Emergency….
How to conduct the evacuation: Get flashlight, and Orange Cap Tell Employees, Contractors, and Visitors to prepare to evacuate. Select the best exit route for you and your employees If all your evacuation routes are blocked: Call Security at and give the location and number of employees. Signal your location with flashlight to people outside of the building. Tell disabled persons to wait by the stairs or exit with their “buddy” and that you will direct security and public safety officers to them. Lead employees via stairs(never use elevators) to safety. Proceed to your evacuation site, gather your associates, and take head count.. Notify the nearest Fidelity Security officer of the last known location and names of any missing people. Wait for further instructions from Corporate Security

15 Roles & Responsibilities……
Always carry orange cap and flashlight in emergencies. Should be the last person of your group to safely leave the floor. Report attendance to Security at Safe Assembly Area. Know the location of employees at the time of incident. Introduce yourself to new employees or contractors. Train new employees in your area. Maintain your life safety equipment. Know your floor space and emergency exits. Keep exits clear and report problems to Security. Be aware of employees with disabilities & how to assist them. Participate in regular training sessions. Keep all emergency numbers handy.

16 Communication….. Accurate communication is critical in emergencies.
More the information better it is. Maintain a clear, calm, steady voice when reporting information. Clear Instructions to team members. Telephones, PA systems, and the radio link between Security officers and command center are tools for this process.

17 Team Management…. Employee Panic / Self Control Disabled persons
All people react differently in emergencies. Try to remain calm and alert; think clearly, and act decisively. If employees become agitated, try to separate them from the crowd to prevent the contagious effects of panic. Maintain calm, levelheaded demeanor. Plan in advance on how to evacuate if a Floor Warden is not present. Assign and train an alternate Disabled persons Have a list of people with disability in advance. Notify Security in advance of any person who is temporarily or permanently disabled. Assign a co-worker as a “buddy” to assist any handicapped person during an evacuation. Security and public safety personnel will assist in the evacuation of disabled persons.

Be aware of Exits of Building. During evacuation, Walk speedy, Don’t Run. Don’t use Elevators, Use Staircase. Assemble at designated point and head count. Communicate with Corp Security.
