4. What “counts” for CAS? Examples could include:
Playing on a sports team
STUCO
Community Service Group
Summer Internships
Lessons outside of school (unless….)
Appointments with a Personal Trainer
Student lead project — not connected to a group
Anything that gets you focused on your own personal growth and does not meet any of these sticky requirements…

5. What is NOT CAS?
any class, activity or project that is already part of the Diploma Programme
an activity for personal reward, financial or benefit-in- kind
a passive pursuit, e.g. museum, theatre, exhibition, concert visits
part of family or religious duty
fundraising with no clearly defined end in sight
an activity where there is no responsible adult on site to evaluate your performance

Increased their awareness of their own strengths and areas for growth
Undertaken new challenges
Planned and initiated activities
Worked collaboratively with others
Shown perseverance and commitment in their activities
Engaged with issues of global importance
Considered the ethical implications of their actions
Developing new skills

9. So What Now? Get involved at school/outside of school (obviously)
Read CAS Guide — sent via will be on Moodle soon
Logon to Managebac — when the notification comes
Create a CAS Plan on that Spreadsheet
Meet with Mr. Russell to discuss CAS Plan
Start reflecting: at least one reflection per quarter, per activity

September 3: First Draft of CAS Plan uploaded to Managebac September 3-21: Meet with Mr. Russell to discuss/revise CAS Plan (details to follow) October 14: First Quarter Journals Due December: Second Quarter Journals Due March: Third Quarter Journals Due May: Fourth Quarter Journals
