Overview “Single Command” approach to the complex QoS configurations Similar to the Auto Secure feature Even if you feel confident in your abilities to configure QoS, you could consider this to save time (you can always tune the automatic configurations) Copyright © 2010 Internetwork Expert, Inc

4 Requirements for Usage
No service policy can already be attached to the interface show policy-map interface If SNMP trap information is desired, you must configure the SNMP server information Interfaces supported: Serial (PPP or HDLC) Frame Relay P2P subinterfaces ATM P2P subinterfaces (BW < 768K) Copyright © 2010 Internetwork Expert, Inc

5 Requirements for Usage
An IP address must be assigned to the interface Slow speed Serial – must be both ends of link The bandwidth command should be assigned to the interface; if you change it later, Auto QoS will not dynamically adjust Copyright © 2010 Internetwork Expert, Inc

6 Requirements for Usage
Certain configurations, like on slow speed Frame interfaces, the feature must be configured on both sides of the link For Frame configs, no existing map class can be assigned to the DLCI Copyright © 2010 Internetwork Expert, Inc

7 Requirements for Usage
For Frame, fragmentation is using a delay of 10 ms and a min. fragment size of 60 bytes However, with G.711 on low-speed links, the fragment size could be smaller than the G.711 VoIP packet To solve choose one of the following: Change the fragment size to the required value Change the size of the G.711 VoIP packet to a smaller value Copyright © 2010 Internetwork Expert, Inc

8 Requirements for Usage
Cisco Express Forwarding must be configured on the interface For an ATM PVC, configure VBR or CBR For signaling protocols, Auto QoS is built to identify: H.323 H.225 (Unicast only) Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) “Skinny” gateway protocol Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) Copyright © 2010 Internetwork Expert, Inc

9 AutoQoS for Enterprise
Auto QoS – not just for VoIP anymore! Two phases The Discovery Phase - NBAR-based protocol discovery detects applications and performs statistical analysis Installation Phase – generates the configurations based on the above data Copyright © 2010 Internetwork Expert, Inc
