2 What is it? A disease caused by parasitic roundworms (aka Nematodes)
When ingested, they travel through the intestrial tract and contaminates the body tissues

4 How do you get it? These worms are found in animals that eat meat (ex. Pigs) Humans get it when they eat those meats raw or undercooked

5 symptoms Fatigue Diarrhea Vomiting Nausea Fever Abdominal pain

6 ways to avoid Avoid undercooked meat Avoid having wild animal meat
Be aware that there are other processing methods don’t kill parasites Clean meat grinders throughly

7 Treatment Usually the treatment for trichinosis is rare since it goes get better on its own. But if it does get serious… Pain revielers Anti-parasitic medication (only if it is discovered early)

9 Interesting facts Cook all fresh pork, pork products and meat from wild animals to where all the meats reaches 160° F. The meat should turn from pink to gray. Touching ones face, mouth, while handling contaminated raw meat can lead to infections Larvae  about 1500 from each female worm—travel through the circulatory system to the heart, then through the blood vessels leading to striated muscle  Most larvae that cannot find suitable locations in striated muscle will die.
