1 State System of the

2 WE ARE HCBE ~29,000 39 ~3,900 Students Campuses Employees
The 14th largest district in the state, Houston County Schools serves over 28,530 students across 38 campuses. We are one community, we are HCBE.

3 Our district continues to grow.

4 Year to year enrollment growth of 1.3%

5 Over 5% growth in enrollment over the past five years.

6 District Ethnicity Trends
Fastest growing: Multiracial

7 Free/Reduced Meals The percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunch has increased over a five-year period. Our general FRL rate has increased four out of the last five years. We have one of the highest FRL rates of large districts in the state. Poverty can explain a large percentage of the overall achievement differences, yet we consistently score higher, across demographics, than other similar large districts. +8.33%

8 SWD & Gifted Students with disabilities represent 11.6% of our enrollment. Students enrolled in the Gifted & Talented program represents 14%. Enrollment of both groups has remained consistent for many years. SWD enrollment remains consistent. Although the graph appears to show large growth, we are currently at 11.72% SWD, up less than 1% over the last three years. Our SWD demographic makeup mirrors closely that of the population at large.

9 Our students continue to succeed!

10 Graduation Rate All Students
Our system shows a strong, persistently higher graduation rate than the state at large.

11 Our students consistently graduate at rates higher than the state average.
Over the past five years, we have graduated students at a rate 5.8 percentage points higher than the state. This trend persists across demographics as the subsequent slides will show. +5.8%

12 The graduation rate for students with disabilities continues to grow.
+16.8% Although FY16 data has yet to be finalized, FY15 proved to be one of the most successful years for our students with disabilities. Students with disabilities in Houston county graduate at a rate 16.8 percentage points higher than the state SWD rate, a feat to be commended. This is not to be taken lightly, considering that our overall SWD rate of enrollment approaches 12% of our student body. State = 54.3% HCBE = 71.1%

13 Our district continues to improve.

14 We saw average scale score increases on EOG assessments across content areas and grade levels.
Although small, these increases in scale score show improvement and successful transition to an online administration of EOGs.

15 Average scale scores increased on most End of Course Assessments
Average scale scores increased on most End of Course Assessments. Those EOCs whose average scale scores increased over 10 points represents significant improvement over prior year performance.

16 Our HCLI vs. GMAS Reading Level
