The Quokka “The happiest animal in the world”

2 Facts about the Quokka Quokkas are herbivores. They are nocturnal.
They are mammals. They are related to kangaroos. They have pouches for their babies to sit and sleep in. It is called the happiest animal because it looks like it is smiling. They weigh between 2.5kg – 5kg and are between 40-90cm tall.

3 What do they eat? Quokkas mostly eat plants but can eat bark, leaves. They become very sick if you feed them things like bread. Visitors are told not to feed them. They can breed anytime on mainland, but in Rottnest in late summer!

4 Where do they live? Quokkas live on Rottnest Island and on Bald Island (near Albany). Rottnest Island and Bald Island are on the coast off Perth in Western Australia. Bald Island has over 104 types of plants, perfect for quokkas as they are herbivores. You are not allowed to drive on Rottnest Island because of the many, many Quokkas!

5 Are they endangered? It is endangered because in the wetlands
where it lives are vanishing. POOR QUOKKA.
