2. Nutrition SBCC Coordination
Government Agreement on the establishment of Joint Gov-DPs Nutrition SBCC Task Force
Multi-sectoral: Health, Agriculture, Education, Information and Culture
Multi-stakeholder: EU, UNICEF, World Bank, UNFPA, FAO, WFP, WHO, IFAD, USAID, ADB, JICA, KOICA, Save the Children, Plan, World Vision, PSI, SNV, SUN CSA
Main tasks:
Actively participate and provide inputs for Nutrition SBCC SAP development
Submit Nutrition SBCC SAP for endorsement to the NNC-S
Mobilise resources and support the implementation of Nutrition SBCC activities
DPs Task Force on Nutrition SBCC met in May, July and September 2016 – for coordination and planning purposes

3. Development of the National Nutrition SBCC Strategic Action Plan
Technical support for development of the National SBCC Strategic Action Plan:
International consultant (UNICEF/EU) & National consultants both on board since September 2016
Activities to date:
October 24: SBCC advocacy meeting led by DHHP
October : SBCC training workshop for SBCC Task Force
October 31 – 4 Nov: workshop to revise IYCF training manual and IEC materials
Desk review preliminary report finalized
Collaborating with Alive and Thrive to develop draft Formative Research plan
Formative research training workshop and consultation meetings to finalise research plan – March/April TBC

4. Formative Research WFP supporting Nutrient Gap analysis
Save the Children (SCI)/USAID Nurture completed formative research on adolescent and maternal nutrition, IYCF, WASH, and health care seeking/use behaviors and gender issues

6. Implementation of Nutrition SBCC activities
Advocacy meetings organised by LWU for 5 provinces to promote IYCF/WASH roll-out
Roll out of IYCF/WASH community package:
Savannakhet: Atsaphone, Nong, Sepon (UNICEF/EU/MMG), Phin (STC/USAID Nurture)
Houaphan 6 districts (UNICEF/EU/MMG), WB 4 districts
Khammuane: Mahaxay (STC/USAID Nurture)
12 districts Phongsaly, Oudomxay, Xiengkhuang, linked to Farmer Nutrition School (IFAD, WFP)
Strengthening of monitoring system for community-based events, oversight and follow-up support to LWU:
Interactive voice recording training incorporated into IYCF training package for SVK
Revision of IYCF/WASH Community-Based training package
Roll out of nutrition education and community awareness campaigns in Oudomxay and Sekong provinces (as a collaboration of WFP and PSI with MoH

7. Advocacy
Advocacy for Code of Marketing of Breastmilk substitutes supported by range of development partners; UNICEF, WHO, WFP, SCI, WB, Plan Int.; CARE, Helvitas, Alive and Thrive
MoH agreed to upgrade the current Agreement to a Decree
Code Task Force formalized by MoH
Code Task Force met 17th January
Capacity building activities planned for Code Task Force
Zero Draft Decree developed
IBFAN –ICDC team offered support to Lao PDR
