2. What God says about Same Sex Marriage
The Bible is God’s word, true for all time and all cultures.
So what does the Bible say?
God’s gold standard is set out in Genesis 2:20-24
‘But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.  Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. ….  That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.’

Genesis 2:20-24; Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13
‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman.’
‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable’.

‘Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.’

‘Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men  nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God’.

So what does the Bible say?

The church has changed it’s mind on women in ministry, so why not do the same on this issue?
The Bible is always positive towards the role of women
Same sex relationships are always referred to negatively.

7. What God says about Same Sex Marriage
What those who have a long term, loving commitment?
The length and love doesn’t change what God says about it!
If a person is born that way surely is can’t be wrong?
It’s a flawed argument – it doesn’t make sense!
It’s flawed in its conclusion – it doesn’t condemn to unhappiness
