Goals Are a Way to Learn New Things

2. When you were a baby you didn’t know how to walk, but little by little you kept trying and eventually you mastered walking. You didn’t know it, but your goal back then was to learn to walk.

3. Goals help us focus on what we want to accomplish in life and along the way we learn new skills and we learn the ability to work hard, we learn not to give up, and we learn how to pick ourselves back up and try again.

4. If you wanted to learn a new language, could you just study for an hour and know it completely? NO! You have to study LOTS of small goals along the way.

5. Learning large and complicated new things can’t always be accomplished in a small time frame.

6. When someone learns to ride a bike they can’t just take off the training wheels and start riding. It takes learning new skills and slowly becoming better at doing them.

7. Practicing each step that they learn and getting back up and trying again if they fall.

8. It can be frustrating and overwhelming to try to learn new things, but goals and small accomplishments make it easier and give us confidence.

10. How to speak. How to play soccer. How to read. How to draw

11. You didn’t know how to do any of those things when you were born and you didn’t learn them all in one day either.

15. Have patience and don’t give up. Ask for advice and help if necessary

17. Remember to cherish every accomplishment that you make
Remember to cherish every accomplishment that you make. It should be very satisfying to know that you are taking small steps to learn new things.
