Premier & Cabinet Leader of the party that wins the most seats in in a provincial election Each premier appoints a cabinet Responsibilities: As party leader, the premier must be able to explain party policies and programs, and be able to put them into action Main communicator of provincial government plans and priorities with the federal government and with other provincial and territory governments in Canada Current Premier of Ontario: (Liberal Party) Kathleen Wynne

Government run by consensus instead – members do not belong to political parties After they are elected, they in turn elect a Premier, Speaker, and Cabinet Everything has to be passed by all members Based on First Nations and Inuit forms of government

12 Judicial Branch Criminal: A person may be prosecuted criminally for any offences found in the Criminal Code or any other federal statute containing criminal offences Civil: deals with disputes between private parties, or negligent acts that cause harm to others Family: dealing with family relationship, marriage, and divorce
