5. We need to get studies underway as soon as possible
The challenge ahead
We need to get studies underway as soon as possible
CPM19-2 is in just over two years (Feb 2019)
Draft CPM text is due in September 2018
This gives us six meetings of ECC PT1 (we have planned our meetings to align with the ITU-R TG 5/1 schedule)
But some parameters will not be available before March 2017

6. And we need to take account of RSPG views on 5G bands

already harmonised below 1 GHz, including particularly the 700 MHz band, in order to enable nationwide and indoor 5G coverage”

7. We can move forward immediately on 3400-3600 MHz
ECC PT1 is already looking whether the ECC technical conditions are suitable for deployment of 5G
This band is already designated for MFCN
Up to 400 MHz of continuous spectrum enabling wide channel bandwidth
But there is a fragmentation of different national and regional authorisations
We need to know what 5G in this band would look like
We have asked 3GPP for information on the technical parameters for 5G in the  MHz band

9. We can also start to think about the 26 GHz band
The  GHz frequency band is in Resolution 238 for study under agenda item 1.13

Our work is driven by contributions
48 contributions to last meeting, of which
14 contributions on technical matters related to 5G bands
We're waiting for 5G parameters for studies
But we are agile: we can make rapid progress between plenary meetings in dedicated groups
