3 About Us… Mr. Daca Mr. Borne 12 years at RHS

4 About the class… Some of the main topics covered: Function families
Polynomials – operations and modeling Rational Functions – graphing, operations, solving Radical Functions Trigonometry Systems of Equations

5 Class Expectations Students are expected to come to class willing to learn, willing to try, and willing to ask, and accept, help. Students are expected to come to class with the necessary materials to be successful. Calculators are an absolute necessity in Algebra 2 There are a lot of notes taken

6 90-10 Homework, quizzes, and all formative assessments are weighted at 10% of the grade. Tests and projects are weighted at 90% of the grade. The overall semester grade is weighted at 75% and the final exam is 25%.

7 Formative Assessments
Homework and quizzes are the main portion of the 10% category. Homework is generally graded for completion Homework is practice Homework can be made up during the duration of the chapter until the day of the test. Quizzes are typically given 1-2 times per chapter.

8 Retake Policy Students may retake any summative assessment (90% category) within three weeks of the original date. To be eligible for a retake, a student must have completed at least 70% of the formative work leading up to the day of the test. The retake process generally involves test corrections, a reteach assignment and any necessary tutoring. The new grade completely replaces the original grade. Retakes are done after school Tuesday-Thursday, or in the resource/retake center.

9 Tutoring Students may attend tutorial homerooms during their homeroom/lunch. Just ask for a pass. Students may ask for individual help with us before or after school. Students may attend the resource center during the day for additional help. NHS tutoring is available after school Tuesday and Wednesday.

10 Conferences Conferences will be held the evening of November 8th and the morning of November 9th. Sign up will begin in October.
