3 What is MUSIC? sounds that produce effect: sounds, usually produced by instruments or voices, that are arranged or played in order to create an effect art of arranging sounds: the art of arranging or making sounds, usually those of musical instruments or voices, so as to create an effect

4 Sound . . . something audible: something that can be heard
vibrations sensed by ear: vibrations traveling through air, water, or some other medium, especially those within the range of frequencies that can be perceived by the human ear.

5 Music vs. Noise unpleasant sound: a loud, surprising, irritating, or unwanted sound any sound: any sound or combination of sounds noise is a mostly unwanted random addition to a signal; it is called noise as a generalization of the acoustic noise
