A national holiday Celebrated by all young people who have or will turn 20 that year.

3 More Information Ceremonies known as seijin shiki (adult ceremony) take place to honor new adults. Ceremony generally held in morning . All young adults maintaining residency in the area are invited. Government officials give speeches Small presents handed out to new adults

Used to be celebrated on January 15, but was changed in 1999. Largely reserved for noble and samurai families
