Ambiguities in the standard that need to be resolved
Clarify ambiguity on promiscuous mode.
Add CHANNEL_ACCESS_FAILURE as valid status to the MLME-SCAN.confirm primitive for active scans.
Unnecessary complexity
Make support for GTS optional for FFDs.
Eliminate BUSY_RX, BUSY_TX, and FORCE_TRX_OFF from the PHY enumerations to reduce complexity.
Drop beacons payload during MAC scanning.

Issues Found
Association time in non-beacon networks is too long for some applications.
Security key use is inflexible
Add CCM* mode.
Multicast is not supported by the MAC but is desired for many applications
MAC headers and beacon payloads could create significant overhead
Investigate MAC header compression to reduce overhead.
