7 Registration Process Parent Meeting
Course and Registration Presentation Mrs. Ragsdale will visit Draper on February 24th Students will get their paper wish list Student Online Registration Students will turn in wish lists to Mrs. Nguyen and Mrs. Paul at Draper Counselor will input actual registration Later in May, we will have all current 6th graders over to tour the building and participate in other activities to begin preparing for next year. Information will be released later in the summer concerning schedule pick-up, open house, and any other information for the start of the school year.

9 Criteria for pre-ap courses
Students are encouraged to speak with their current academic teachers about Pre-AP recommendations All Pre-AP courses will require extensive outside work and in-depth study Homework and outside projects will occur on a regular basis Time committed to complete work is extensive.

11 Math On-Level 7th Grade Math Pre-Algebra PAP
Prepares students for 8th grade Pre- Algebra Last year of math where students cannot use calculators Both Advanced 7th grade and Advanced 8th grade course work (two years in one … not similar to other PAP courses) Pacing moves quickly, requires strong arithmetic background Students should have an 85 or above in 6th Advanced (SpringBoard) math Class is needed only if students need to take AP Calculus or AP Statistics their senior year Pre-Algebra PAP students will not be allowed to use a calculator

Students must meet 2 out of the 3 criteria to be eligible for enrollment in this course: 6th Grade final advanced math average of 85+ 2017 Math STAAR Performance at Level III recommended IAAT Algebra Readiness Assessment scale score of stanine 6 or higher

24 Physical education It is a state requirement that students take two years of physical education in junior high Students may take PE, Athletics, or Tennis A presentation will be held for all future 7th graders to discuss the policies and procedures of Athletics at the beginning of the school year. 25 7th grade electives Art (semester and full year) Band Choir GEMS Media Tech Theatre (semester and full year) Wylie Way Yearbook (application only) There are no guarantees that your child will be placed in the elective of their choice (band & choir = good possibilities) Priority is to place your child in the core subjects first, then required courses, then electives

School Doors will open at 7:45a Students will report to the cafeteria or other assigned supervised areas upon arrival to school Tutorials begin at 7:45a Teachers will have morning and/or afternoon tutorials available All classes are approx. 50 minutes Shot records MUST be up to date for your child to attend the first day of school! All records must be up to date and in the Cooper Junior High clinic before Monday, August 7, 2017 Records may be dropped off at your intermediate school – best if before May 26 Information has been ed out already, and you will receive follow-up notices if your student still needs records Schedules will not be released if missing immunizations Contact Teri Seitz, Cooper Nurse at or
