1 Order of Services -

2 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

3 Fundamentals of the Faith
Lesson 12 Giving in Worship 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

4 All things are God’s and we must be faithful stewards of those things.
Everything belongs to God. for "the earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness." 1 Corinthians 10:26

5 All things are God’s and we must be faithful stewards of those things.
You came into this world with nothing. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 1Timothy 6:7

6 All things are God’s and we must be faithful stewards of those things.
We are God’s Stewards Then Jesus said to His disciples, " If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

7 All things are God’s and we must be faithful stewards of those things.
We are God’s Stewards For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:24-26

8 All things are God’s and we must be faithful stewards of those things.
We are to be good stewards, faithful stewards. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2

9 All things are God’s and we must be faithful stewards of those things.
The Jerusalem church sold and gave to the church, the attitude is an encouraging one. 32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

10 All things are God’s and we must be faithful stewards of those things.
33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. 34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles ' feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.

11 All things are God’s and we must be faithful stewards of those things.
36 And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, 37 having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles ' feet. Act 4:32-37

12 Why should a Christian give? Because…
God’s Love for Man For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

13 Why should a Christian give? Because…
Life itself is from the Lord 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, " If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." James 4:14-15

14 Why should a Christian give? Because…
God’s Word teaches us to give. 1 " Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.

15 Why should a Christian give? Because…
2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly Matthew 6:1-4

16 Why should a Christian give? Because…
The early church set an example 1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also:2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

17 How should the Christian give?
Regularly 1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also:2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

18 How should the Christian give?
As Prospered 1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also:2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

19 How should the Christian give?
Liberally But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 2 Corinthians 9:6

20 How should the Christian give?
Cheerfully So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

21 How should the Christian give?
Give themselves to God first, others second And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God. 2 Corinthians 8:5

22 Blessing are promised to those who are faithful stewards.
Blessed to give I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ' It is more blessed to give than to receive. '" Acts 20:35

23 Blessing are promised to those who are faithful stewards.
Give & it will be given to you Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." Luke 6:38

24 Conclusion When we can give as we have prospered, let’s remember we should do so to the BEST of our ability. 41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans.

25 Conclusion 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, " Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood." Mark 12:41-44

26 Conclusion 2. When we do what pleases God, then our hearts will be right before Him.
