2 Introduction Beed district of Maharashtra is known as district of sugarcane cutters. Every year more than 2 lac people migrate in Western Maharashtra & Karnataka for around six months. These laborers include pregnant women also. There is need to estimate exact migration and map them so as to provide health service.

3 Objectives 1. To estimate total seasonal migration for sugarcane cutting 2. To estimate number of pregnant women among seasonal migrant laborers 3. To study current status of ANC service utilization among pregnant seasonal migrant laborers

4 Materials & Methods Study Design: Cross-sectional study
Study Period: September 2010 to October 2010 Sampling Method & Sample Size: Universal sampling. All seasonal migrant laborers were included in study. Data Collection: House to house survey by peripheral health workers. Data was compiled on web-based software. Data Analysis: Descriptive statistics, proportions with their 95% Confidence Interval

6 Results Total of 1,40,154 laborers (sugarcane cutters) migrate seasonally (November to May) across western Maharashtra and Karnataka. Among these migrant laborers were women in years age group, 2711 (6.2%, 95%CI 5.9% to 6.4%) were pregnant.

9 Results We organized pre-migration check-up camps and recorded details of service utilization. Among these 2711 pregnant women, attended camps. Out of 1923 women who attended pre- migration camp 284 (14.7%, 95% CI 13.2% to 16.4%) were found to be high risk.

12 Conclusion Significant numbers of pregnant women migrate for sugarcane cutting. Their tracking is necessary to provide antenatal, intra-natal & post-natal services so as to reduce maternal morbidities and mortality.
