3 Addition and Subtraction of a Positive Integer
When you add a positive integer, move to the right along the number line When you subtract a positive integer, move to the left along the number line -9 -8 -7 -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

4 Addition and Subtraction of a Negative Integer
Adding a negative integer to another integer means you move to the left on the number line Subtracting a negative integer to another integer means you move to the right on the number line -9 -8 -7 -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

5 Examples 4 + 3 = 7 2 – (-7) = 2 - - 7 = 2 + 7 = 9

6 Multiplication and Division with Negative Integers
The product of two positive numbers is positive The product of a negative number and a positive number is a negative number The product of two negative numbers is a positive number The quotient of two positive numbers is positive The quotient of a negative number and a positive number is a negative number The quotient of two negative numbers is a positive number

7 Examples -4 x 7 = -28 - 30 ÷ -5 = 6 - 54 ÷ 6 + 8 x – 9 ÷ - 4
