Symbolic Nature:
White snow-Purity and innocence of the children
Earth with snow-Assimilation of African Americans
Failure of it to combine-Failure of Maycomb to welcome integration
Snow will eventually melt-Foreshadows eventual blending of the town

3. Miss Maudie’s Fire
Literal Definition: Miss Maudie’s house fire destroys her home
Symbolic Nature:
Fire is a cleanse and rebirth
Always hated her house-gives her an excuse to build a new one
Fire is like trial-event will either destroy or cleanse Maycomb
