2 Mrs. Castro 6th Grade Technology Lab SAFETY 2016-2017 Science Journals
Technology Lab SAFETY Chromebooks will be used in science class. Class assignments, projects, and assessments will sometimes be completed digitally through Moodle, Google, Science Fusion (online textbook), or other programs. Students are expected to abide by all school and district digital safety rules and guidelines. Students are expected to have their Chromebook fully charged (or have their charger) and in working order. Science is a hands-on laboratory class. We will use some equipment that may be dangerous if not handled properly. To ensure a safe classroom, a list of rules has been developed. These rules must be followed at ALL times. Additional safety instructions will be given for each activity. Lab SAFETY Rules *Personal Cell Phones are not considered acceptable learning device per NISD’s technology requirements. Scan the QR to view the requirements Students will: Act responsibly at all times in the science laboratory and classroom. Follow all instructions about lab procedures given by the teachers. Keep work area clean and clutter-free. Wear safety goggles and protective clothing at all times when necessary. Know what to do in case of fire. Immediately notify the teacher of any spills, accidents, or any emergency. Tie back long hair, remove dangling jewelry, and secure loose clothing. Not take chemicals or equipment out of the lab without permission from the teacher. Never eat or drink in the lab unless instructed to do so by the teacher. Not enter the storage area unless directed by the teacher. Science Journals Student journals are ongoing documentation of learning. We will use the journals to take notes, work on vocabulary, and do reflections. They will be used EVERYDAY! Journals will be picked up upon entering the classroom and put back on shelf before leaving. Students may take them home, but it is HIGHLY suggested to stay in class (unless taken home to study for test). I have read and understand the rules and expectations for Mrs. Castro’s 6th grade science class. I acknowledge that it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher first with any questions or concerns. I have reviewed and understand the Lab Safety Rules. I understand that if all the rules and safety precautions are not followed, the student will not be allowed to participate in science lab activities.
