3 Predestination The Puritans believed that everyone was predestined to either go to Heaven of Hell. They believed that people were predestined by God. Also, God is always involved in the affairs of Nations and people.

4 Views on Other Faiths The Puritans believed that they were the only ones right on the subject of religion. They wanted everyone to become Puritans because they strongly believed that they were right.

5 Puritans & The New World
Religious Freedom- They wanted to escape the religious prosecution from England. The Netherlands- They Puritans first fled here to escape the Church of England and remained here until 1620. The New World- They feared that they would lose their cultural identity so they moved to New England in the New World.

7 Undermining Forces A person’s natural desire to do good- this works against Predestination. Dislike of a “closed” life. Change in political conditions- Massachusetts becomes Crown colony Change in economic conditions- growth of fishing, farms, etc. Theocracy suffered from lack in flexibility

8 Theocracy Theocracy- belief that the church and the state are one. There should be no difference between them. Affect- It was against their beliefs to believe in witchcraft. They would try to get rid of witchcraft.
