3 VISION STATEMENT To be recognized locally as a proactive organization providing prevention education on HIV and AIDS and advocating on behalf of persons living with HIV to promote protection of their human rights and to eliminate AIDS-related stigma and discrimination

5 The Road to Sustainability
Originally, a small support group assisted by dedicated nurses Became a NGO in March 1993 moving to a registered Charity in 2004 Organisation’s Constitution approved in 2005 Membership was very small but over the years it has grown Currently recognized by the NAP as the national network for persons living with HIV

Interventions focus on coordinating, strengthening and expanding available resources and delivery of services for the welfare of those living with or affected by HIV

7 Management Structure The Network is governed by an elected
5 member Executive Committee 3 Floor Members 2 Trustees Program Coordinator (ex-officio) This team provides: (i) Policy direction (ii) Development of strategic plans (iii)Monitors and evaluates the implementation of service delivery

8 Capacity Building Activities
Met with PM Arthur in 2001 to articulate needs of organisation stressing capacity building members attended 10th Int’l Conference for PLHIV in T’dad st capacity building workshop with Claudette Francis to establish organisational structure including formation of partnerships with Government and other NGOs F/up capacity bldg workshop with Claudette Francis starting to examine Constitution of organisation

Participated in CRN+ AGM and CBW A series of workshops sponsored by the Commission and other partners followed work by Ms. Francis including EI training (UNDP) and Ciciatelli Associates PAHO sponsored Mrs. Doreen Boyd as Institutional Strengthening Consultant in 2005 and Commission continued this consultancy up to current time Through AID Inc. some members have developed skills in various aspect of research

members journey to T’dad for a week long CRN+ prog mgmt trng Additional prog mgmt trng provided by PANCAP’s Global Fund Project 2006 – Int’l AIDS Alliance supported peer counselling workshop for treatment adherence Represented at PANCAP LEHR workshop in St. Vincent and Trinidad

11 Capacity Building Facilitation
CARE B’dos accepted offer to participate in a PLHIV conference in Uganda and facilitated 2 workshops Through PAHO, CARE B’dos has provided technical assistance to other PLHIV networks throughout the Eastern Caribbean Facilitated network peer exchanges from other islands UNAIDS PAF allowed CARE to provide EI and advocacy trng to colleagues from the Eastern C’bean
