On September 16th, The MBTA launched a partnership with Uber and Lyft to provide an on-demand paratransit pilot program for the RIDE community Pricing Apps Ordering Options Customer pays first $2, the MBTA pays next $13, and the customer pays remainder of the trip’s cost Call-In Ordering Sample $19 Trip $2 $13 $4 $6 Provided Smartphones $2 Sample $8 Trip MBTA Customer $13 $6 $2

3 Parking RFP geared towards:
On September 14th, MBTA issued a request for proposals for a parking services vendor Parking RFP geared towards: Implementing the latest parking technologies in MBTA facilities to enhance customer experience Shifting to pay-for-performance from fee-for-service – incentives for the new vendors to improve operations and customer satisfaction Building a more integrated partnership with our vendor around maintenance and operations Parking Overview MBTA controls over 40,000 parking spots across 108 facilities Generates gross revenue of over $40M annually Accounts for over 50% of own-source revenue on a gross basis Increasing parking revenue is an FMCB mandate and a critical part of MBTA’s strategy

4 MBTA is adopting an Innovation Proposal Policy, mirroring the policy framework already in place in Denver, LA, and Dallas

5 The policy is meant to encourage proposals that:
The Innovation Proposal Policy is aimed at increasing the number of inbound ideas from the transit industry, augmenting the MBTA’s internal process The policy is meant to encourage proposals that: Offer direct or anticipated benefits to the MBTA, its passengers and the community Can be reasonably accommodated in the MBTA’s annual capital and operating budgets Have potential to significantly reduce MBTA operating and/or capital expenses Suggest a new, innovative service that the MBTA could provide Be independently originated and developed by the proposer Contain sufficient details regarding the benefits for the MBTA’s mission and responsibilities for initial due diligence

6 MBTA plans to run competitive, public process for proposals
All proposals presented would trigger a public review and an evaluation based on potential benefits to the MBTA and its riders MBTA plans to run competitive, public process for proposals Publicize receipt of proposal by posting online and advertising when appropriate Adequately describe nature of proposal Publicize interest in acquiring the services or property in the proposal Provide adequate opportunity to compete for business and contract based on best proposal offered to the MBTA In limited cases, the MBTA may elect to award on a sole source basis The Innovation Proposal Policy is not meant to replace the usual procurement process but augment the MBTA’s ability to engage with the transit industry and the Greater Boston Region’s world class academic, non-profit and technology sectors in new ways
