4. Before EFDAs
Dentists were scheduled patients every 30 minutes (fillings and extractions)
Dentists also did hygiene exams
Fall behind with chart notes
Root canals and surgical extractions were scheduled for 1 hour (2 slots)
2 slots= 1 less patient
Root canals were done in pre molars and anterior teeth ONLY
Each 8AM-5PM dentist was scheduled 15* patients per day
75* patients weekly
*Not including hygiene visits, frozen slots, 1 hour appts, walk-ins or no show
Each 7AM-3PM dentist was scheduled 15* patients per day.
Dentists usually prep 1-2 teeth depending on size of restoration needed.

In 2011, Southeast dental finished their renovations and opened up 13 dental operatories.

8. Transition… EFDA on externship
Allowed dentists to write or catch up on chart notes
Lots of schedule changes
1 EFDA slot per dentist in the morning

9. After EFDAs Dentists are scheduled 3 patients an hour.
Dentists are now assigned hygiene checks.
Dentists who are scheduled for hygiene checks have “frozen” slots, depending on the number of hygienists. They are not double booked “EFDA” slots when doing hygiene checks.
Allows dentists to catch up/write chart notes.
Root canals and surgical extractions are scheduled for 1 hour (2 slots)
2 slots= 1 less patient
Root canals are done on anterior teeth ONLY.
Each 8AM-5PM dentist is scheduled 23* patients per day.
115* patients weekly

Each 7AM-3PM dentist is scheduled 22* patients per day.

Dentists are able to prep more teeth per visit depending on size of restoration needed.

11. Conclusion With EFDAs, Southeast dental is able to see more patients.
8-5 dentists see approx. 8 more patients per day or 40 more patients weekly.*
7-3 dentists see approx. 7 more patients per day or 35 more patients weekly.*
