Support Opportunities Timelines Templates 8 Step Problem Solving Process Monitoring Guide SB 850 Today’s Goal: To gain an understanding of supports available, explore the SIP/SAC Canvas site, review timeline for school improvement cycle, preview template options, review 8 Step Problem Solving Process, preview monitoring guide, and gain understanding of SB 850 requirements.

Purpose Outcomes/Products June 9-12 Leadership Week To gain insight into district focus areas and overview of SIP supports; to add to knowledge base Draft of SIP goals June 15- July 17 Site Visits To engage in a SIP self-assessment with members of the Regional Team and District Personnel Draft of SIP goals and identification of next steps in SIP Process July 20-23 SIP Support: Core To deepen understanding of SIP process; to integrate the SIP process and specific MTSS Behaviors Drafts of goals, targets, and strategies, action plans July 27-30 SIP Service Week: District/Regional Alignment To determine district/regional supports needed for implementation and monitoring; To differentiate support within regions for SIP development Working draft of SIP; completed district/regional support plan August 17 SIP Working Drafts: Peer and Regional Review and Revisions To provide and receive feedback on SIP to ensure clarity for stakeholders and alignment to District Priorities Final SIP September 4 Publish SIP To share SIP with public stakeholders Final SIP published online yearlong Implement, Monitor, Revise SIP To review and monitor progress toward SIP goals; To revise plan components, if indicated Working SIP that reflects all of school’s improvement efforts February 2016 Mid-Year Reflection To review, monitor, and reflect on progress toward SIP goals and the accompanying action steps April 2016 Current Reality: All Schools To conduct a Needs Assessment; to review school-wide data across the District Priority areas in order to reveal the focus areas impacting student achievement and identify barriers to closing the achievement gap. 8 Template Options DA Schools: Use the FLDOE template All content and problem solving entries in this year’s plan are anticipated to roll forward by June 15th Non DA Schools: Have choice between FLDOE template and revamped PascoSTAR template (anticipated availability June 30th) Both options utilize the 8 Step Problem Solving Process (as they have for the past 2 years) Both options contain prompts for narrative responses

23 Senate Bill 850 (SB 850) Requires schools* to use EWS to monitor and report in SIP data on the following indicators: Attendance below 90% Course failure in English or math 1 or more suspensions (ISS or OSS) Level 1 on state-wide assessment in ELA or math Schools are required to report: Number of students with 2+ indicators Number of students at each grade level for each indicator: Attendance, Failures, Suspensions, FCAT Types of interventions offered to identified students ----- Meeting Notes (6/26/14 11:13) ----- Add column called SB850 Y for students meeting all 4 criteria N for students not meeting at least one criteria

24 Steps to Access Number of Students with 2+ Indicators in PascoSTAR
1. Click on Student Data, Choose Student List View, Select School from Drop Down Menu

2. Scroll across bottom of data set (bar: Apple, General, Scroll Always) 3. Go to SB850 EWS Indicator column and enter Y. The page will refresh. 4. The number of items listed in the bottom left of the page is the number of students meeting this criteria.

26 Export Data to Excel Expand Grid Buttons menu by clicking on arrow. Click on Select All Records to Export button. Then click on Export Selected Records to XLS button.

27 Getting Ready to Access More Data
Click on the word Clear located at the bottom right of the page. This will remove the filter.

28 Steps to Access Number of Students per Grade Level for each Indicator
1. Scroll back to front of data set. Click and hold on GRADE column. 2. Move column to “Drag a column header here to group by that column.”

29 Steps to Access Number of Students per Grade Level for each Indicator
3. Scroll to far right. Click and hold on SB850 Attend <90% column. 4. Drag column to beside Grade column. Be sure to scroll back over to the left. 5. Click arrow beside grade level. Record number of items (students)with a Y for that grade.

6. Click and hold on SB850 Attend <90% column. Drag column back to row with the rest of columns. Drop anywhere in that row of columns. 7. Scroll over to the right. Click and hold on another SB850 Indicator. 8. Repeat steps 4 and 5 9. Drag column back to row with the rest of columns. Drop anywhere in that row of columns 10. Repeat steps until you have recorded number of students per grade level for each of the indicators.
