DMS UI – Major Features Explorer — Discovers scale-out resources automatically. Explorer shows the available resources that can be used for creating logical clusters. It has two modes: Logical mode: Shows the servers and drives that are allocated to logical cluster Shows available servers and drives for creating new logical clusters. Physical mode: Lets you inspect the details of the hardware in the system (servers, drives, switches, DSAs, DMSs etc. ) Status — Provides a Dashboard showing all alerts currently active (unresolved) in the system, and a History of all alerts (both active and resolved) since the DMS was installed. Alerts are also indicated in the UI by a notification icon   at the top of the page.  Composer — Composer enables you to use Cluster Templates to select from a pool of available dis-aggregated compute (Server), and storage (Drive) resources and, using network resources, compose them into “Software Defined” Logical Nodes within Logical Clusters. Once this is done, the Logical Nodes can be deployed to run services and applications, such as Hadoop and HDFS. DriveScale Proprietary Information © 2017

3 DMS UI - Section 1: Explorer
Log in to DMS UI with the credentials created in the previous module From the left hand panel navigate to the Explorer and click on the Logical section. This will give you an overview and status of all the Servers/Drives for DS cluster and configuration state. DriveScale Proprietary Information © 2017

4 DMS UI - Section 1: Explorer cont..
Click on the Physical tab to see the details of all the hardware in your cluster. DriveScale Proprietary Information © 2017

5 DMS UI - Section 1: Explorer cont..
Click on individual Hardware name to get complete details of the same. Ex: Click on the DSA to check the status and details of the DSA’s. You can also click on the individual DSA’s to check the FQDN, version, IP and other details. For Drives or Servers, you can also add tags to make it easier to identify particular specs during the node creation. Note: For this exercise I have specified a tag for namenode and datanode as nn and dn respectively. DriveScale Proprietary Information © 2017

6 DMS UI - Section 2: Composer (Node Template)
From the left hand panel navigate to the Composer section and click on the Node template. From the top right corner select the Create template and fill in the details for the template name. Create 1 template for NameNode and 1 for DataNode each Note: For this exercise I have specified a tag for namenode and datanode as nn and dn respectively. DriveScale Proprietary Information © 2017

17 DMS UI - Section 4: Settings Cont..
For Role based access, the following groups are predefined in the solution. Please refer to the table below to get the details of each group. Group name Access rights per this group viewergrp These users can only view in Explorer, Composer and change their own password. clustermgrgrp These users can create node templates, cluster templates and clusters. admingrp These users can do everything. clusterusergrp These users can create clusters based on pre-defined cluster templates but cannot create the templates. The new user is listed under the Users section. DriveScale Proprietary Information © 2017

20 Verification of DriveScale assigned drives at the OS level.
Log on to the servers and run the script listed below to get the list of all the DriveScale assigned drives which are mounted. - /opt/drivescale/bin/list-drives 2. Run fdisk -l to verify the disks as well. DriveScale Proprietary Information © 2017
