1 AP Literature Mrs. ElHatem- Sabawi

2 Course Objective Develop accurate, perceptive reading through close study of major texts. Acquire a fluent, precise writing style through the completion of essays about the texts. Understand the literacy terms associated with different types of writing and how they affect and enhance meaning. Gain skills that will allow them to succeed in future academic endeavors.

3 Essays/ Written Content
45% of the grade is dedicated to essays and written content Students are expected to complete in-class essays as well as take home essays. Essays should thoroughly answer the prompt to receive full credit.

4 Classwork 20% of grade is dedicated to class work
All class work needs to be in a notebook and in class. At the end of each lesson students will turn their notebook for a grade.

5 Reading 20% of the grade is dedicated to Reading
Reading will be constant and on going. Some works will be in the literature book, some books are available to check out here, but some novels may have to be purchased. Students are to annotate their text and keep a log in their Reader’s notebook as they read All reading mustbe completed by the due date along with annotations and the reader’s notebook.

6 Tests/ Quizzes 15% of grade is dedicated to Tests/ Quizzes
Student are notified when tests will be given Students will only be allowed to take 2 make up tests per semester
