From: Tactile Perception of Spatial Stimuli on the Lip Surface by Young and Older Adults J Speech Hear Res. 1996;39(6): doi: /jshr Legend: Average spatial acuity thresholds for young and older adults, by gender. Young adults had significantly lower thresholds than older adults (p < .001). There were no significant differences as an effect of stimulation site (RU = right upper, LU = left upper, RL = right lower, LL = left lower). Young women had significantly lower thresholds than young men (p < .05), but acuity of older men and women did not differ significantly as an effect of gender. Standard error of the mean is indicated. Date of download: 10/30/2017 Copyright © American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
