1 Title Introduction & Background Conclusions
Author(s), John E. Sohl Dept. of Physics, Weber State University If you are not part of the HARBOR program, just replace this logo with another WSU shield for symmetry or some graphic associated with your program. If you are working with someone at a different institution, put their logo here instead. Here are some text fonts to consider: Tahoma, 1,I,l,0,O, 18pt Times New Roman, 1,I,l,0,O, 18pt Garamond, 1,I,l,0,O, 18pt Cambria, 1,I,l,0,O, 18pt Tahoma, 1,I,l,0,O, 24pt Times New Roman, 1,I,l,0,O, 24pt Garamond, 1,I,l,0,O, 24pt Cambria, 1,I,l,0,O, 24pt Tahoma, 1,I,l,0,O, 28pt Times New Roman, 1,I,l,0,O, 28pt Garamond, 1,I,l,0,O, 28pt Tahoma, 1,I,l,0,O, 36pt Times New Roman, 1,I,l,0,O, 36pt Garamond, 1,I,l,0,O, 36pt Ariel, 1, I, l, 0, O, 36pt (Notice that cap “eye” and lower “ell” are nearly identical with Ariel font. Times New Roman font makes “one” and lower case “ell” hard to separate.) Avoid fonts that have funny sizes for different letters/numbers:  Georgia, 1,I,l,0,O, 28pt Introduction & Background This is a place holder for a text box that will grow with what ever text you place in it Place text and graphics in text boxes like this. It is important to have an introduction section to put your research into context and to give your research broader meaning. This is a place holder for a photo, graph, etc. or you can place text here This is a place holder for a text box that will grow with what ever text you place in it In general, you want to leave a boarder of about one inch all the way around your poster. Remember that very few printers, especially large format printers (often called “plotters” for historical reasons) are able to print right to the edge. This is a place holder for a photo or you can place text here This is a place holder for a text box that will grow with what ever text you place in it You can make your poster two or three columns wide. It really depends on your topic and graphics. Remember that really wide columns are harder to read. This is a place holder for a photo or you can place text here Figure 1. Of course, all figures need a numbered and descriptive caption. So do tables, but table captions are above the table whereas figure captions are below the figure. Go figure… (get the pun?) Figures are numbered with Arabic numbers 1, 2, 3, etc. but Tables are numbered with Roman numerals I, II, III, IV, etc. In general, you should avoid tables unless the table is quite small, only a few rows and columns. Conclusions This is a place holder for a text box that will grow with what ever text you place in it Your conclusions are the most important part of your work. But, make it clear and concise. Bullet points can be good, but don’t always work well. It really depends on your particular results.
