2 Background The second of six children
Grown up in South Boston “ Projects” Grew up in a crime infected area Family fall into poverty when father lost his hand in a working accident He was an outlaw beginning at age 14 (first crime) He lack friends with respectable character From the start he was a criminal with no real occupation. Joined the Air Force after is first time in jail. ( Later discharged) After the Military is then Bugler turned to a full-time job of crime.

3 Background Cont. In 1956, robbed a bank in Massuchettess sentenced to 25 years only served 9 years. In 1974, he became the head of the Winter Hill Gang in Boston Between he was an informant for the FBI to help topple the Patriarcas Gang

4 CRIMES Sanctioned murders, and shake downs
Extortion-the practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats. Drug trafficking-The illegal drug trade is a worldwide black market consisting of production, distribution, packaging, and sale of illegal psychoactive substances Arms trafficking-Arms trafficking, also known as gunrunning, is the illegal trafficking or smuggling of contraband weapons or ammunition. Loansharking-The term usually refers to illegal activity, but may also refer to predatory lending with extremely high interest rates such as payday or title loans. Racketeering-A racket is a service that is fraudulently offered to solve a problem, such as for a problem that does not actually exist, that will not be put into effect, or that would not otherwise exist if the racket did not exist.

5 The Profile Differential-Association Theory
He grew up in a poor area with crime and no way out. Learned crime through observing the interaction were he grew up. He grew up in a poor Boston area. He witnessed frequent crime in his youth which led him to this life. His small crimes as a kid propelled to greater more violent crimes like murder. He later rose through the ranks to led the Winter Hill Gang committing a series of different crimes.

6 The Man He Is Today He was captured after 16 years on the run.
He was tried and found guilty on the charges of racketing, money laundering, extortion, weapons charges and complicity in 19 murders. He is currently serving two life sentences plus five years in prison. And as we speak he is rotting away in a 8 by 12 jail cell.
